measures were very important in the 18th and 19th century in the united states. Some of the MEASURES WERE verified with dates and initials. Others are signed by the maker also. In any event the initials and dates are more than satisfactory to assign manufacture to the Boardman company. quantities of all types, liquids and solids were dispensed in measures, requiring verification of capacity. the measure is DATED”1859” and initialed “J.H.R.”. this pint MEASURE, REFERENCE #323 in an american pewter collection, is in excellent condition.
