Spittoon by Rufus Dunham
Not everyone could use this spittoon but it sure is an unusual form. 2¾” high and the diameter of bottom is 8”. The spittoon is marked by Rufus Dunham on the underside bottom. He worked in Westbrook, Maine from 1837-1861. Carl Jacobs in his book doesn’t even list this form for Dunham. This piece is in mint condition and complete with ring handle and insert.
