4½” Gershom Jones Porringer

Gershom Jones was an important pewterer working in Providence, RI from 1774-1809. Spanning the revolutionary war period as he did, he changed his dies from the English style to American styles. This porringer, reference #562 in An American Pewter Collection has his pre-revolutionary mark which utilized the “I” pre-revolutionary as opposed to the “J” post-revolutionary. The condition of both pewter and mark is excellent.
